A Decade of Hope: Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month. Since opening its doors on the campus of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center in 2016, Canopy has shifted the focus for patients and caregivers from experiencing cancer to actively living and celebrating life at every stage of their journey.
Serving as a home-away-from-home, Canopy provides a dedicated, nurturing environment where cancer survivors of all kinds and their caregivers can access vital resources and build community connections. True to its founding mission, all programs continue to be offered free of charge to anyone impacted by cancer, regardless of where they receive treatment or their insurance status.
In the past year, Canopy has:
- Logged 1,200 monthly guest encounters, helping patients and families navigate life during and after treatment.
- Offered more than 45 unique programs and services including gentle exercise, nutrition, education, social support, and more.
- Facilitated more than 250 complimentary wig fittings and customized prosthesis/bra fittings for individuals coping with treatment side effects.
- Expanded Counseling and Youth Support. In 2025 alone, Canopy hosted more than 675 oncology-focused professional counseling sessions and supported children and teens with 480 specialized sessions through its partnership with Wonders & Worries.
“Reflecting on the past decade, Canopy has become a sanctuary for cancer patients and their loved ones,” said Justin Kendrick, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. “As we look ahead, we remain committed to supporting those touched by cancer by continuing to provide high-quality integrative services that enhance their quality of life.”
To meet the needs of a growing population of younger survivors and working professionals, Canopy has expanded its hours of operation and will now stay open until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Additionally, Canopy will be open the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
