Houston Hockey Community Announces Plans for Houston's First Nonprofit Dual-Surface Ice and Roller Hockey Rink

Houston, TX — The Houston Hockey Community (HHC) announced today the expansion of its mission to make hockey affordable, accessible, and inclusive for families across Greater Houston. Through growing partnerships with RCX Sports-NHL Street, Tim Hortons, the Texas Ball Hockey Association, La Porte Parks & Recreation, Galleria Ice, and numerous community supporters, HHC continues to broaden the reach of both ice and roller hockey throughout the region.

Seven months ago, HHC acquired the Houston Premier Sportsplex, establishing a dedicated home for roller hockey, ball hockey, and NHL Street programming. The facility has quickly become a central hub for youth development, adult leagues, and community recreation.

Today, HHC is taking its most significant step yet: mobilizing the entire Houston hockey community to build Houston’s first nonprofit, dual-surface community rink featuring one full ice sheet and one full roller/multi-sport court. This dual-purpose design ensures year-round access for ice hockey, roller hockey, ball hockey, lacrosse, derby, and additional community sports.

The planned community-owned facility will provide:

A full NHL-size ice rink for youth and adult hockey, figure skating, and community events

A full roller/multi-sport court for roller hockey, ball hockey, lacrosse, derby, and other recreational programs

Affordable access through nonprofit pricing

Year-round development pathways for athletes across both ice and roller disciplines

A stable, community-controlled home protected from commercial rink closures
