Tropical Storm Bertha Update: July 21, 2026 | 8:30 AM CDT

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- TS Bertha has strengthened, but the system is anticipated to encounter a harsh environment around mid-week due to increased wind shear and interaction with the Louisiana coast. This will likely disrupt further intensification as it continues through the NW Gulf of America later in the week.

Uncertainty in the track and intensity remains higher than normal past Wednesday. There is the possibility that the storm will arrive at the SE Texas coast as a tropical depression sometime Friday if it survives the unfavorable environment that is expected to develop towards the middle of the week.

We encourage residents to continue monitoring the forecast but there is no need to panic and start hoarding supplies.

Rainfall accumulation forecast for this weekend remains below 1 inch across the entire county at this time. Remnants of TS Bertha are not expected to produce heavy rainfall for our area with wind shear continuing to push the tropical moisture further south.
