Tomball ISD Officially Opens Tomball West High School with Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Celebration

TOMBALL — Tomball ISD proudly celebrated the official opening of Tomball West High School with a community-wide Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration, welcoming students, families, staff, community members, elected officials, and project partners to the District’s newest campus and third comprehensive high school.

The historic celebration marked the completion of one of the most significant projects made possible through the community’s support of the Tomball ISD Bond 2021 program. Tomball West High School built at 531,762 square feet, will welcome its inaugural class, featuring 9th and 10th graders, for the 2026–2027 school year, creating new opportunities for students and families as Tomball ISD continues to experience growth as a Destination District.

“Tomball West High School represents far more than bricks, steel, and concrete,” Tomball ISD Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora said. “It represents opportunity, growth, and our community’s unwavering commitment to investing in the future of Tomball ISD students.”

Designed to support today’s learners while preparing students for the future, Tomball West High School features innovative academic spaces, collaborative learning environments, Career and Technical Education facilities, fine arts spaces, athletic facilities, and advanced technology designed to support student achievement and future-ready learning.

“This campus will soon be filled with students creating memories, pursuing their passions, discovering new possibilities, and building the foundation for their futures,” Dr. Salazar-Zamora said.

A Community Investment in the Future
Tomball ISD Board President Mark Lewandowski reflected on the significance of opening the District’s third comprehensive high school and the community’s role in making the milestone possible.

“As someone who has called Tomball home for most of my life, today is truly special,” Lewandowski said. “If someone had told me years ago that we would one day be celebrating the opening of our third comprehensive high school, I’m not sure I would have believed it.”

Lewandowski emphasized that Tomball’s growth is defined not only by its size, but by the community values that have guided that growth.

“What makes Tomball remarkable is not simply how much we have grown—it is how we have grown,” he said. “Through that growth, we have remained a community that values relationships, believes in public education, supports its students, and comes together to invest in the future.”

Lewandowski shared that the true legacy of Tomball West High School will be created by the students who walk its halls.

“While we celebrate this incredible building today, what excites me most is not the bricks and mortar—it is the students who will walk these halls,” Lewandowski said. “They will establish the traditions, create the culture, build the friendships, and leave the legacy that will define Tomball West High School for generations to come. They will forever be the first Tigers of Tomball West.”

Building Through Partnership
The opening of Tomball West High School reflects years of planning, collaboration, and partnership among Tomball ISD, community stakeholders, architects, construction professionals, and project partners.

During the celebration, Dr. Salazar-Zamora recognized the many organizations and individuals whose expertise helped transform the vision for the campus into reality.

Special recognition was given to LAN, the district’s program management partner, for its collaboration and continued support throughout the development of Tomball West High School and other Bond 2021 projects; Huckabee Architects for creating an innovative, student-centered learning environment; and Gamma Construction for its craftsmanship and quality throughout every phase of construction.

Additional project partners recognized included School Specialty, G&L Installation, Stafford Smith Inc., LED Partners, EMA Engineering, Terracon, Engineering Air Balance, FDP, South Texas Graphics, Wilson Fire, and Otis Elevators.

“I am proud to share that this Bond 2021 project was completed on time and under budget,” Dr. Salazar-Zamora said. “That achievement reflects strong collaboration, careful planning, and responsible stewardship of community resources.”

Establishing the Tiger Legacy
Principal Kevin Williams, the inaugural leader of Tomball West High School, shared the significance of opening a campus that will establish traditions and create a new legacy within Tomball ISD.

“Standing here as the inaugural principal of Tomball West High School is an incredible honor—and an even greater responsibility,” Williams said. “This campus is more than a new building. It is a promise to students, families, and this community that excellence is not just expected here—it is the standard.”

Williams shared that Tomball West High School will pursue the Gold Standard of Excellence.

“At Tomball West High School, excellence will not be an aspiration—it will be our expectation and our daily practice,” Williams said.

As the first Tigers prepare to enter the campus, Williams emphasized the importance of creating a culture that will last for generations.

“As we open these doors for the very first time, we are beginning a legacy,” Williams said. “The traditions, culture, and identity of Tomball West High School are being written right now by our students, who will carry it forward for years to come.”

A New Chapter for Tomball ISD
The celebration concluded with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, campus tours, and the creation of a Tomball West High School time capsule—a collection of memories and keepsakes that will preserve the excitement of opening day for future generations of Tigers.

As the community celebrated this historic milestone, Dr. Salazar-Zamora reflected on the significance of the new campus and the collective effort that made it possible.

“Today, we celebrate far more than the opening of a new school—we celebrate the people, partnerships, and shared vision that brought Tomball West High School to life,” Dr. Salazar-Zamora said. “This campus represents what can be achieved when a community comes together with purpose and a commitment to its students. Congratulations to those joining the Tiger family and to all who will call Tomball West High School their home. Together, we continue moving forward as a Destination District—where we are not just a district, but a destination, and not just a destination, but Destination Excellence.”

With the opening of Tomball West High School, Tomball ISD continues its commitment to creating exceptional learning environments where students are inspired to achieve, innovate, and lead.

Tomball West High School becomes Tomball ISD’s 26th overall campus, and third comprehensive high school (THS, TMHS, TWHS) with a fourth being Tomball Star Academy Early College High School. TWHS will open as a 9th and 10th grade campus on August 18, 2026 and will add a grade level each year, becoming a 9th-12th grade campus by 2028-2029.
