Conroe Police DFR Drone Helps Officers Locate Suspect After Assault, Leading to Arrest

CONROE, TX -- On the night of September 22, officers responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of South Third St where an assault had occurred.
At the same time, a DFR Drone was already in the air, returning to land after providing overwatch during a traffic stop. The DFR pilot immediately redirected the drone to the disturbance.

Upon arriving in the area, the drone located a white passenger car leaving the scene. The DFR pilot followed the vehicle, providing responding officers with real-time information on its location and direction of travel.

With the assistance of the DFR drone, officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Following the investigation, Roberto Orellana, 18, was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

This is another example of how Conroe PD’s DFR program enhances officer response by providing valuable real-time aerial information, helping responding officers safely locate the suspect and take him into custody.
