Patients in The Woodlands Go Gold For Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Children and families at Kinder Children’s Cancer Center in The Woodlands celebrated Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with an afternoon filled with music, creativity and plenty of gold, sponsored by The Faris Foundation.

Patients and their families stepped away from their hospital rooms to enjoy a special celebration featuring cotton-candy-making, face painting, slime-making, and music — giving children and families an opportunity to have fun and celebrate together close to home.

The celebration brought the spirit of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month directly to The Woodlands while shining a light on the children and families facing childhood cancer in their own community.

Gold is the international symbol of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which is commemorated each September. This month is an opportunity to highlight the importance of childhood cancer research and the need for continued progress in treatment and outcomes. Physicians and scientists are working to improve care for all children with cancer, including the patients treated at Kinder Children’s Cancer Center.

Kinder Children’s Cancer Center is a joint venture between UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s, dedicated to ending childhood cancer.
