Development Standards Committee Volunteers Needed

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township is recruiting candidates for volunteer positions on The Woodlands Development Standards Committee (DSC) for 2027. Qualified candidates are required to have experience in architecture, engineering, contracting, building code enforcement or a related field and will serve a two-year term.

Applying is now easier and more convenient with the new online Development Standards Committee Application Form, which provides a secure and streamlined way to submit application materials electronically. For those who prefer to apply by mail or in person, a printable application is available online at thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/dsc. Applications are also available for pickup at The Woodlands Township, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, October 30, 2026, by 5 p.m. All applications must be received, not postmarked, by the deadline. Resumes noting training or experience in related fields will also be considered.

The DSC is made up of four residents appointed by the Township Board and three appointed by Howard Hughes. The DSC is responsible for adopting rules and regulations regarding the administration, interpretation and enforcement of The Woodlands Covenants, Restrictions, Easements, Charges and Liens. The DSC reviews requests for improvements on Residential and Commercial properties, New Home Construction, Short Term Rental requests, and variance requests and appeals from the Residential Design Review Committees.

The committee typically meets at 5 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday evenings of every month. The DSC meets jointly with other committees about two to four times a year. From time to time the DSC conducts workshops where the members meet to address matters related to Residential Development Standards, operating procedures, etc.

Applicants are invited to attend The Woodlands Township Board of Directors meeting to address the Board on November 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will appoint candidates at their meeting on December 3, 2026, and the new Committee members will be seated at the first regularly scheduled meeting of the Development Standards Committee in January 2027.
