PORTER, TX -- A driver was arrested on charges of endangering a child and racing on a highway after deputies observed a Dodge Charger Hellcat traveling at speeds exceeding 145 mph with a one-year-old child inside.

On October 21, 2026, at approximately 1 p.m., a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant assigned to the agency’s Mustang unit observed the Charger traveling approximately 90 mph on Highway 59 in the Porter/New Caney area.

The Sergeant observed the driver operating the vehicle erratically, making offensive hand gestures toward other motorists and cutting off drivers, including the driver of a commercial truck. The Charger then moved through heavy traffic at speeds exceeding 145 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.

The Mustang unit maintained contact with the Charger until the driver stopped. While detaining the driver, deputies discovered a one-year-old child inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested for endangering a child and racing on a highway.
