Records ANTENNA signals. This means you need to have an ANTENNA. Most builders put the wiring in the attic already, so it's easy to add if you don't have one already. Or just buy a window antenna from Amazon.
Go CABLE FREE and save $$$ thousands per year! What's the new cost of this? - This model isn't sold anymore but to get a new replacement you'd pay about $500 in order to get a Tivo BOLT and "unlimited lifetime functionality" - plus tax, so about $540.
What's my risk in this? What if it breaks? - The Tivo has one major moving part - the hard drive where the shows are stored. You can replace this with a new one (and store more shows!!!) in about 15 minutes yourself if it breaks or if you just decide to upgrade to store more shows. It's easy. So overall risk with this is very, very low; it's reliable.
What about my 4k TV? - This is made to record BROADCAST TV. For now and for the foreseeable future in the US, broadcast TV is 720p / 1080i. This records both perfectly. And it works perfectly with your new 4K TV as well!
Can you help with setup? - for basic setup questions I'm happy to help over the phone. But its just plug and play.

Does this have wireless capability? - Yes, this has both Ethernet and wifi. So you can work with either; your home just needs a basic internet connection and this will work great. (Plus you need an antenna of some sort - either one in the attic or one directly attached to this unit.)
