Executive Director
The Woodlands Children’s Museum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sparking imagination, fostering creativity, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. Through interactive exhibits, engaging programs, and special events, the museum serves thousands of children and families each year across The Woodlands and North Houston area.
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of The Woodlands Children’s Museum and is responsible for advancing its mission, financial sustainability, and strategic planning. The Executive Director should be a visionary leader with a passion for early childhood education and dedication to the type of informal learning that exists in a museum environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
• Partner with the Board to develop and implement long-term strategic plans.
• Ensure alignment of programs and operations with the museum’s mission and goals.
• Provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive workplace culture.
• Oversee daily operations, exhibits, educational programming, and visitor experiences.
Financial Management & Fundraising
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and fiscal accountability.
• Lead diversified fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and special events.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and reporting requirements.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
• Serve as the public face of the Museum.
• Build partnerships with stakeholders and community leaders.
• Represent the Museum at community events and professional associations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred).
• 5+ years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit management, education, museums, or a related field.
• Positive track record in maintaining relationships with Board members, staff, and community partners.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
