Job Description

The Nursery Worker serves as a vital member of the church’s children’s ministry by providing safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered care for infants and young children during worship services of all three First Methodist campuses, events and church activities. This role supports families by creating a welcoming and secure environment where children are cared for with compassion, attentiveness, and respect.

Job Responsibilities: In this role the responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
•A daily walk with God and Christian living
•Comply fully with FMC Safe Sanctuary Policies and all applicable church policies and procedures
•Serve faithfully and responsibly by arriving on time and remaining on duty until each child has been released to a parent or authorized guardian
•Any time off must be requested through the Nursery Coordinator ahead of your shift
•Maintain current CPR certification for infants and children, as required by church policy
•Provide loving, attentive, and age-appropriate care that reflects Christ-centered values, including feeding, diapering, maintaining a safe, welcoming and fun environment, and engaging children through play, stories, crafts, and structured activities
•Uphold proper health and hygiene practices, including thorough handwashing after diaper changes and after assisting children with personal care needs
•Use gloves during all diaper changes and sanitize diaper-changing surfaces after each use in accordance with church health and safety guidelines
•Maintain a clean, orderly, and prepared nursery environment throughout each service or event by organizing toys, disposing of trash and diapers properly, and sanitizing surfaces, toys, and restrooms as needed
•Ensure the nursery is fully cleaned, sanitized, and reset at the conclusion of each service or shift
•Follow all Nursery Guidelines and security procedures, including child identification and check-in/check-out protocols to ensure proper release of each child
•Remain attentive to the safety and well-being of all children entrusted to the ministry and promptly report any concerns to nursery coordinator in accordance with church policy
•Ability to remain calm, patient and attentive while managing multiple children
•Willingness to receive direction, participate in training to receive updated information for childcare and work collaboratively with nursery leadership and team
•Do not discuss children in your care with other parents

Skills Required

•Prior nursery experience/babysitting experience required
•Bilingual preferred
•Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures with accuracy & consistency
•Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in childcare or related program preferred
•Must be available to work Sunday mornings
•CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
•Background check and Safe Sanctuary training required
•Must be 17+ years old
•Must have flexible schedule

Compensation:

$15/hour
