Woodlands Fire Department Holds Annual Awards Ceremony

The Woodlands, TX -- The Woodlands Fire Department celebrated 32 years of service to The Woodlands community at its annual awards ceremony. The ceremony also served to honor its employees who have demonstrated outstanding service to the department in 2007.

The following awards were presented:

The Woodlands Fire Department Employee of the Year – Firefighter TJ Moore
Meritorious Service Award – Captain Bob Moore and Lieutenant John Frost
Town Center Improvement District Award – Driver/Operator John Cantarella
Operations Employee of the Year – Firefighter Russell Rice
Dispatcher of the Year Award – Shift Supervisor/Trainer Simone Nichols
Administrative Employee of the Year – Maintenance Tech Terry Murphy

The Meritorious Service Unit Citation was presented to the Life and Fire Safety Education Characterization Team, which consists of:

Also recognized for Meritorious Service Unit Citation were all of those involved in a vehicle rescue incident on September 25, 2007. Emergency personnel were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident, one-car rollover with entrapment. One patient was logged deep into the mangled vehicle, making extrication difficult and lengthy. Extra personnel were needed, but after almost two hours all three occupants were transported by ambulance and air medic.
