Woodlands Weekend Weather and Wonderful Ways to Welcome the Warmth

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Though nowhere near the record high, our predicted weekend temperatures are a handful of degrees above average for the third weekend of autumn. It’s still decidedly summerlike outdoors, with bright sunny days and cool breezy nights. Here’s a breakdown of the forecast and some ways to make the most of the extended summer warmth.
Friday
The recent humidity track – staying low during most of the daylight and rising only at night – will continue throughout the weekend, meaning we have no heat index to speak of; whatever the ‘normal’ temperature, it isn’t being increased by excess moisture in the air. We’re already on the far side of our high temperature of 90 degrees today, and the mercury will steadily drop until we hit the 60s before midnight. In fact, we’ll get all the way down into the upper 50s tonight, so throw those (screened) windows open to air out the house if you can.
The Woodlands Township is hosting a special outdoor movie night this evening starting at 8:30 p.m. The new take on classic horror – Scream – will be shown to adult audiences (kiddos under 17 need to be accompanied by a grown-up) at the Rob Fleming Amphitheater. Bring your chairs and blankets and prepare to get spooked!

Saturday
Sunrise will hit about 7:20 in the morning when the temps will be around 60, but by lunchtime we’ll be back up into the 80s, with the high settling right at 90 around mid-afternoon. It’ll be a little less breezy than the day before, but still decent kite-flying weather if you want to hit the park (but not Northshore, due to today’s 10 for Texas Race). There will be nary a cloud in the sky, so be sure to SPF up all your exposed body parts and stay hydrated. By bedtime, it should be back down into the 70s for a still, quiet night.
For the shank of the day, hit the east side of Interstate 45 from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. for the Oak Ridge North Fall Festival. Head over to Marilyn Edgar Park to shop local vendors, let the kiddies enjoy some bounce house fun, enjoy some delicious food, keep the little ones occupied with crafts and activities, jam to live music, and more!

Sunday
Once again, your morning will start off cool and bright, with uninterrupted blue skies from horizon to horizon. We won’t quite break the 90 degree mark; that plus the increased breezes will make this an excellent day to be out and about outdoors. The pressure will hit its lowest point in the latest trend and start to rise again, bringing the occasional cloud and dampness with it in the smallest degree. Something tells us that the upcoming week will be the last one of these above-seasonal temperatures and dryness, so this is possibly your last weekend chance to fully bask in the literal glow of the sun. As you hit the hay Sunday evening, you can look forward to a Monday dotted with clouds and steady temps.
It’s your final chance tonight to catch this season’s round of the ‘Concert in the Park’ series, a free, family-friendly music event at Northshore Park, which should have just recovered from being the starting and finishing line for the 10 for Texas Race the day before. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, coolers and even your leashed pets for a relaxing evening of music and community; in what could be the most original band selection yet, tonight the Tropical Steelpan Orchestra will take the stage for some instrumental variety. They’ll also be celebrating Volunteer Day at the event, so be prepared for some extra goodies.
