Innovative Café Concept Aims to Bring Christian Adults Together

Innovative Café Brings Christian Adults Together on Friday Nights Free seminars and networking for Christians get a new spin – involve live music, spoken word, and gelato and you’ve got ‘Charisma.’

THE WOODLANDS, Texas –- As many adults look forward to wining, dining, and hitting the nightlife scene on Friday nights, an introductory concept called Café Charisma is giving new meaning to how people spend their Friday evenings.

With the motto, “It’s not just fellowship, it’s Kingdom,” Not Just Ministries, Inc. has developed a creative way to bring progressive minded Christian adults together. By combining a free empowerment seminar with live music and spoken word poetry, Not Just Ministries seeks to cultivate an environment where attendees are inspired to live life to the fullest – spiritually, intellectually and socially.

“What we found is that many Christian adults – primarily young adults – desire to interact with others socially and express their faith in venues other than traditional worship and church services,” explained Dexter Upshaw, program director for Not Just Ministries. “In an effort to grow spiritually, they have removed themselves from environments that were no longer compatible with their values, such as bars and clubs. On the flip side, they still have the desire to ‘go out’ on Friday night… we provide a venue where they can do so without compromise – and continue to grow spiritually in the process.

The first Café Charisma will take place on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Kremi Café located in The Woodlands, Texas. Kremi Café is a beautiful espresso bar with a cozy atmosphere that serves gelato, a specialty Italian ice cream.

The theme for February’s Café Charisma will be “The Legacy of Love.” Beginning at 7:00 pm, real estate broker and financial advisor Vernon Smith will lead an exciting and informative seminar entitled “Building a Legacy: Real Estate, Wealth, and Faith.” Following the workshop, cafe attendees will enjoy the smooth sounds of live jazz music by The Victor Harris Trio, and hear poetic pieces performed by various spoken word artists from the Greater Houston area.

Admission is free; donations of any amount will be accepted. Proceeds from Café Charisma will go towards funding Not Just Ministries’ educational and mentorship programming initiatives.
