Record Setting Gas Prices
HOUSTON, Texas -– Retail gas prices across the Lone Star State and the U.S. continued to set new records this week, according to AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
In Texas, a gallon of regular self-serve averaged a record-high $3.54 per gallon in the 11 regions surveyed, a penny higher than one week ago. Nationally, the average price climbed two cents to a new record of $3.65 per gallon.
“Record high crude oil prices above $120 a barrel continue to add upward momentum on retail gas prices,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau.
The most expensive gasoline in Texas can be found in Amarillo at $3.55 ($3.547) a gallon, where the average rose nearly two cents. The state's cheapest gas is in San Antonio at $3.51 ($3.506) a gallon, where the price went up almost two cents.
