Record Gas Prices Continue
HOUSTON, Texas –– The statewide average price for a gallon of gas continues to reach record numbers. AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch reports that the state average moved up a penny from last week to $3.86 a gallon, a new record. The national average price increased four cents to a new record of $3.99 a gallon.
“The absence of any double-digit increases in the regions surveyed could be an indication that the run-up in retail fuel prices are slowing down,” said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. “However, falling demand for gasoline in the US has helped crude oil prices decline from a high of $135 a barrel to around $120.”
The highest average gas price is in Dallas at $3.87 a gallon, up two cents from the previous week. The cheapest gas is in Texarkana at $3.81 a gallon, up less than a penny.
