Thursday marks the seven year anniversary of the heinous terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people were killed and over 6,000 injured in the attacks in New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania.

Since the attacks, America has come together and continues to grow stronger in the fight against terrorism. We will never forget those lost in the attacks and will never forgive those behind them.

Woodlands Online encourages you to show your patriotism and support for the victims and their families as we mark this somber day.

Memorial Event at Houston Fire Museum
On Thursday, steel beams from the wreckage of the World Trade Center will be brought to the Houston Fire Museum, 2301 Main at Hadley, for a ceremony commemorating the seventh anniversary of the attacks.

A wreath-laying ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. to honor the memory of the victims of 9/11 and the museum grounds will remain open until 6 p.m. for patrons to view the beams and leave notes or other mementos.

The beams were donated to the museum by the city of New York and the New York Port Authority. One of the beams will be used in construction of an education center at the museum and others will remain at the site as a memorial to those lost in the attacks.
