THE WOODLANDS, Texas – This year Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday, and many people will be off work and will have no excuse as to why they didn’t do something romantic for their Valentine. To help get the ball rolling on planning for the holiday, we have come up with five suggestions to help make you seem even sweeter to your Sweetheart.

1. Dinner & Movie – A classic date that can easily be made more romantic. Guys give in and go see that romantic comedy she has been trying to drag you to for weeks. It will make her happy and they are usually short movies, so you won't be in agony for long.

Make dinner special by taking her to a place that has special signifigance to you both. For example, where you went on your first date, the restaurant you ate at the night you proposed, a local place that reminds you of a trip you took together, etc. It’s a small step that will show you took time to make the dinner special.

2. Weekend Road Trip – Considering the relatively low price of gas right now, a quick weekend trip to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, or Louisiana could be just the escape your Valentine was looking for. Get booking quick though, as holiday weekends tend to book fast. To save money, search for travel deals online. Remember, it might not be a glamorous trip, but the adventure and time you spend together will be a memory you can both share forever.

3. Local Vacation – For the woman that loves to travel, but just can’t go far or spend too much. Stay one night at a local hotel and spend the day together doing things that you would do on a vacation (see the local sights/attractions).Walk along The Woodlands Waterway, watch The Fountains at Waterway Square, take a carriage ride at Market Street, etc.

4. Backyard Picnic – A picnic is a great idea, but finding a private place on Valentine’s Day for a picnic may be harder than you think. Instead, plan a picnic in your own backyard. You will have the comfort and convenience of being at home in case you forget anything or if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

5. Valentine’s Clue Game – A romantic twist on the popular T.V.show “The Amazing Race,” leave clues for your Valentine that will take her to places that have special meaning to you both and end up leading to a final location where you will be with flowers, chocolates, or something else as a bonus for making it back to you (You may think you’re a prize, but still a little something else should be given). This idea may take a little more planning on your part, but it is sure to be a memorable Valentine’s Day and will make all her friends jealous.
