THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Seniors from around Montgomery County will unite in their patriotism when they converge on the CDBG Community Center on Friendship Drive in Magnolia from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, for The Friendship Center’s annual Celebration of Freedom.

Commissioner Craig Doyal will once again help host this event by providing the famous Charlie Riley barbecue lunch for almost 500 seniors transported to Magnolia from all parts of the county on The Friendship Center buses.

Friendship Center staff and volunteers will organize entertainment and games, and a special recognition of our veterans present that day will be held. Musical entertainment will be provided by Commissioner Doyal’s right-hand man, Charlie Riley, and his band. Homemade desserts and drawings for door prizes will be featured at the end of the event.

Any senior age 60 or over is welcome to attend the event. Volunteers of all ages are being recruited to help serve the meal and assist the seniors during the games. Prospective volunteers should call Carmen Pellettieri at The Friendship Center at 936 756-5828 x43 for more information.
