THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Everyone felt young at The Friendship Center Sock Hop held at the South Montgomery County Community Center on Thursday, February 11, where seniors from all six activity centers from across Montgomery County converged for a day of poodle skirts, hamburgers and milk shakes. Elvis was even on hand, greeting Conroe center attendees Butch Walker and Frances Moody.

CB&I (Chicago Bridge and Iron) employees adopted The Friendship Center this year as their United Way agency of focus, and helped plan and support the Sock Hop event.

The Friendship Center brings seniors together for a large celebration every two months. In addition to the recreation and educational activities that they provide seniors over age 60, the agency also provides a Meals on Wheels program, a transportation program, counseling and case management services and other ancillary services. For more information, call 936 441-2982 or visit the web site at the link below.

The Friendship Center is a United Way agency supported in part by a grant from the Community Development Block Grant Program.
