THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- On February 27, 2010, more than $1,700 was donated at “Senior Shred Day” where individuals shredded their sensitive information on site at College Park.

According to Shirley Weber, Seniors Real Estate Specialist for Keller Williams Realty, “I am so impressed. By the end of the day, the truck was full of more than 11,600 pounds of shredded paper. This event was a success and we hope to host it again in the future.”

The event was free to senior citizens 55 years old or older and a $10 suggested donation was requested from others who participated.  This event was held to help prevent identity theft in the Senior population, who are many times more vulnerable.

100% of the proceeds benefited Senior Services at Interfaith of the Woodlands, a non-profit agency serving thousands of people in The Woodlands and surrounding areas for over 36 years.

Each participate received a certificate of destruction and Interfaith of the Woodlands received an environmental impact report because the shredded paper was recycled.

Shred Pro Services was the on-site shredding company that services both businesses and residents in the Greater Houston area and surrounding cities. They pride themselves on providing excellent service, with security being their top priority and competitive pricing.

The event was sponsored by Shirley Weber, Seniors Real Estate Specialist for Keller Williams Realty. The event was also co-sponsored by Homewatch Caregivers  - The Woodlands premier non-medical home care company and by the Senior Resource Guide – Houston’s leading information and resource directory for Seniors.
