THE WOODLANDS, Texas - This Saturday, April 16, 2011, the Creekside YMCA invites kids and parents to make a “play date” for Healthy Kids Day™. As the leading nonprofit for strengthening community, the Y holds Healthy Kids Day to bring families together to engage in fun, active play and learn healthier habits that help them grow and thrive. Activities are free and open to all.
Healthy Kids Day will be held at the South Montgomery County Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center. Activities could include open house, tours, face art, moon walk, fingerprinting, arts/crafts, Alpine Tower, Giant Swing, demos, community booths, mascots, giveaways, games, screenings, health/safety fair, kite making, outdoor education, eco art, summer program registrations, door prizes, refreshments, music and much more! The first 300 Kids in attendance will receive a Healthy Kids Day T-shirt!
April 16th is also the kick off for summer with Super Summer Sign Up Day featuring information and activities on YMCA summer programs: Day Camp, Swim Lessons, Youth Sports, Sports Clinics, Teen Camp, Child Care, Performing Arts and more. With each summer program registration, participants will receive a free gift!
YMCA Healthy Kids Day is the nation’s largest health day for kids and families and is free to the public. It’s a day filled with fun, engaging and creative activities that foster healthy living, and is a part of the YMCA’s larger efforts to help more kids and families become physically active. “This day is designed to celebrate healthy living, encourage kids and families to get excited about physical fun and activity, and most importantly, just play,” said Roxanne Davis, Community Liaison for the South Montgomery County YMCA. “Increasing physical activity is one way to get healthier, and doing it as a family is a great way to reconnect with one another. Healthy Kids Day provides hands on activities and games designed to educate kids and parents while entertaining them” she added.
The South County YMCA invites local non-profit youth organizations, health & wellness, safety, arts/humanities and environmental agencies to participate. If your group is interested in participating and hosting a booth, please call or e-mail Roxanne Davis, Healthy Kids Day Coordinator. There is no charge to participate but agencies participating are asked to provide hands on activities for kids and families as well as a door prize. Space is limited.
Healthy Kids Day takes place from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Creekside YMCA located at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive.
