Become a Junior Park Ranger in The Woodlands

Upon orientation, each participant will receive their very own Junior Park Ranger Field Guide—a hands-on activity manual filled with exciting challenges. Rangers will complete age-appropriate activities before graduation day to earn their official prize pack and the proud title of Junior Park Ranger.

The Field Guide encourages children to:

  • Take the Park Hero Pledge and promise to help keep parks clean.
  • Learn important park rules like staying on trails, respecting wildlife and leaving no trace.
  • Complete fun activities including a trash sorting game, birdwatching scavenger hunt, playground safety quiz, trail checklist, creative drawing pages and even a Park Patrol maze.
  • Explore local treasures such as the George Mitchell Nature Preserve.
  • Discover the more than 150 parks and 220 miles of pathways throughout The Woodlands.

From spotting blue jays and cardinals to identifying safe playground habits and learning how to pack for the trail, Junior Rangers will build confidence, environmental awareness and a love for the outdoors.

The program celebrates what it truly means to be a ranger: not just a guardian of the land, but a storyteller, protector and ambassador for future generations.

Upon successful completion of all required activities, graduates will be officially recognized as Junior Park Rangers of The Woodlands and receive a special prize to commemorate their accomplishment.

Spots are limited and expected to fill quickly. Families are encouraged to register early and get ready to explore, learn and protect!
