THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The South Montgomery County YMCA is offering a new program this summer for Teens, ages 15 -16, Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) LIT program is designed for highly motivated teens looking to bridge the gap between teen camp and future employment. Teens must complete an application and go through an interview process before being accepted into the program.

Once accepted, LITs can expect to shadow YMCA employees in various departments as well as develop leadership and communication skills and conflict resolution through small group work, participating in service projects and creating and executing their own service project. LITs will receive skill specific classes in: resume building, interviewing, public speaking CPR/First Aid, and decision making processes. At the end of the 3 week session, LITs will not only be more confident leaders, but will have gained unique insight into what it means to work for a mission-oriented organization like the YMCA.

Leaders in Training Program is a 3 week session. There will be 3 sessions offered this summer at the South Montgomery County YMCA: June 20 – July 8; July 11 – 29; and August 1 – 19. There are only 10 spots per session meaning only 30 teens will be accepted into the 2011 LIT Program.

Applications are available at the South Montgomery County YMCAs in The Woodlands, 6145 Shadowbend Place, 8100 Ashlane Way or 6464 Creekside Forest. For more information call Nathan Pieper, Y Teen Coordinator. Application deadline is April 23.
