Blessing of the Animals

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Lord of Life Lutheran Church in The Woodlands will hold a Blessing of the Animals From 4 - 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2 in commemoration of Francis of Assisi who died in 1226.

Francis was the son of a wealthy cloth merchant, yet dedicated his life to helping the poor in a spirit of gladness and gratitude for all creation. Francis called all creatures his brothers and sisters.

This unique service will be held outside and all community members and animal lovers are welcome to bring pets, large and small, ensuring they are crated, leashed or reined. The offering for the event will be 10-pound or less, unopened packages or cans of pet food which will be donated to the local animal shelter.
