Job fair to connect local employers and employees

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Lone Star College-Montgomery, in partnership with the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, will host the 16th annual Community Job Fair on Thursday, October 20, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the college’s Health Science Center (Building B).

With a goal to showcase viable employment opportunities in Montgomery County and the surrounding area, the job fair will allow attendees to meet with multiple employers in one location in the same day. Attendees will explore career options that range from full-time employment to part-time and seasonal help through the holidays.

For businesses, the job fair offers an opportunity to reach high numbers of potential job seekers in the shortest amount of time. Booth reservations and placement are still available, but are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The community job fair is being held in conjunction with the LSC-Montgomery’ s inaugural StarTech Symposium, a multi-day technology trends event that includes a NanoTech Workshop, on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; the High-Tech Conference, designed for both the general public and business professionals, on Friday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and an Algae Certification Workshop, on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

The NanoTech Workshop is held in partnership with the Penn State Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization with sessions facilitated by Dr. Stephen Fonash, executive director for the center. The High-Tech Conference, hosted by LSC-Montgomery, will feature a keynote presentation by Andy Hines, lecturer/executive-in-residence of University of Houston’s Graduate Program in Futures Studies. The Algae Certification Workshop is held in partnership with the National Algae Association (NAA) with sessions facilitated by Barry Cohen, executive director for NAA.
