THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- John C. Rogers, MD, has recently transitioned his Woodlands-based family medical practice of over 20 years into a concierge medical care practice called My Own MD. He is the first physician to create a concierge-style practice in The Woodlands.

Offering a higher level of personalized medical care, concierge patients have the exclusive benefit of access to their doctor 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week if needed, with same-day appointments to accommodate their needs.

As an emerging trend, concierge medical practices are designed to provide an increased direct level of care with the physician by limiting the amount of patients accepted by the practice through membership participation. “A concierge medical practice returns the patient experience to what it should be: focused on a personal relationship with your doctor,” explained Dr. Rogers, who is board certified in family medicine and integrative holistic medicine.

Dr. Rogers said the amenities and benefits of concierge style medical practice include more comprehensive care, a major focus on preventive healthcare, coordination of care with specialists, travel medicine service, and hospital admission and treatment if needed.

My Own MD provides comprehensive family health care including the treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, minor emergencies including laceration repair, minor surgeries (removal of skin lesions), ADD and ADHD management, immunizations and flu vaccines, annual health exams with an emphasis on prevention, gynecological exams and care, and bio-identical hormone therapy for men and women. The annual comprehensive exam includes a comprehensive evaluation of medical history, comprehensive physical exam, electrocardiogram, spirometry (lung function), oxygen status, nutritional assessment, and routine lab tests. Each patient receives a personalized lifestyle management plan including risk factor analysis and recommendations, nutritional recommendations, and cardiovascular fitness goals and recommendations. Dr. Rogers also assesses biomarkers of aging.

“In today’s healthcare environment, this transition has allowed me to remain committed to building my practice upon a foundation of values that deal with the emotional concerns and medical needs of each and every patient,” continued Dr. Rogers. “Concierge style facilitates the ability to return my focus to the heart of the practice . . . the patient.”

Dr. Roger’s My Own MD is located at 1111 Medical Plaza Drive at the corner of Pinecroft, across from Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital.

Dr. John C. Rogers graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lamar University and completed Medical School and Family Practice Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Family Medicine and is on the active staff at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital.
