THE WOODLANDS, Texas –– Ridership on the newly restored Waterway Cruisers is up 64 percent from last year, according to The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau.

During the first quarter of this year, 8,299 passengers boarded the cruisers compared to more than 5,000 passengers during the same time period last year.

“The Waterway Cruisers remain one of The Woodlands’ most distinguishing amenities, particularly among those who visit the community to shop, dine or stay for the weekend,” says Nelda Blair, chairman of The Woodlands CVB.

Each of the Waterway Cruisers was completely restored in late 2011 and early 2012, including the interior and exterior refurbishment of each boat.

Catering services and private charters on board “The Dreamer” where groups can have a seated dinner for up to 20 or appetizers and cocktails for up to 35 from Landry’s Restaurants, were introduced in 2012. Special cruises are designed in conjunction with community events and festivals.
