THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- London isn’t the only town where athletes are bringing home medals this week. Competitors from Montgomery County are taking home medals for their achievements in wrestling, high hurdles … and diving for bones.

Best Friends Pet Care in Spring Hosts Doggy Olympic Games

Best Friends Pet Care at 26839 Interstate 45 South in Spring is hosting its the 2012 Doggy Summer Olympics this week. Canine athletes were jumping through hoops to capture the gold.

"Our doggy day camp regulars love to run, jump and wrestle, so we knew an Olympics Day would be a perfect fit," said Best Friends Manager Susan Adam. "The best part of canine competition is that dogs don't care who wins and who loses -- they just love playing the games!'"

The Doggy Games kicked off with an opening ceremony Monday and featured a variety of athletic events, including races, wrestling, hurdles and water games. Just like the International Olympics, there were representatives of many nations -- from German Shepherds and French Poodles to English Bulldogs and all-American mixes.
