THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Covenant United Methodist Church, one of the newest churches worshiping in The Woodlands, invites the community to attend its second annual ‘Easter at the Y’ event on Sunday, March 31. This special Easter Sunday event includes a worship service beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a brunch catered by The Egg & I restaurant at 11 a.m. An outdoor Easter egg hunt on the grounds of Creekside YMCA concludes the activities at noon. The Easter bunny will also make a special appearance.

Covenant UMC meets weekly at the Creekside YMCA (6464 Creekside Forest Dr., Spring, TX 77389).

“Easter can be a stressful time for families,” said Reverend Jason Burnham, founding pastor of Covenant UMC. “Easter at the Y is designed to remove a lot of the stress and focus on the core Easter message – life reborn through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We invite everyone in the area to make this an annual event."

Leading up to Easter Sunday, Covenant is offering a Lenten sermon series titled "Basics: Our Christian Core"

"We are focusing on what a Christian is made of - what is at our Christian core," said Burnham. "Our worship series takes us through Passion Week with practical and inspiring messages for everyday life."

Covenant UMC began offering weekly worship services in 2012. While the church doesn’t own land yet, there are plans to purchase property on a major thoroughfare close in proximity to the Village of Creekside Park. In the meantime, said Burnham, worshippers at Covenant are excited about the advantages of being a “portable church.”

“It gives us time to dream and to discern God’s will for our congregation,” added Burnham. “God has provided a virtual blank slate for Covenant. I feel so excited—so blessed—to be on this journey of faith with our growing number of worshippers.”
