THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Sixty senior citizens were displaced Wednesday night after a transformer blew at a nursing home facility in The Woodlands.
It caused an explosion at The Forum on West Panther Creek around 8:30 p.m. The blown transformer knocked out power to Building 5, which houses Alzheimer’s patients.
The flames were confined to a breezeway and a building housing the air conditioning unit. An outside wall of Building 5 was burned, but the fire did not spread inside.
There were no injuries reported.
The residents were being housed in the dining area, a nearby nursing home and a neighboring church. Family members were alerted and some chose to pick up their loved ones.
