THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Tough Elementary broke a world record for the world’s longest human electrical circuit on Thursday, October 24, 2013.

Red Ribbon Week

"The idea began with a science experiment and expanded to this activity," stated Julie English, Tough Principal.

In honor of Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, the school created their own event, "Banding Together Against Drugs." Every student, kindergarten through sixth grade, participated in an activity involving all children holding hands to complete an electrical circuit with an energy stick symbolizing them banding together to say "No" to drugs.

After contacting Guinness World Records, the school took the necessary steps to make it official; so while approximately 1,200 students were 'banding together,' they also managed to break the world record. The previous record holder was a school in Nacogdoches that had approximately 700 students.
