THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Every year the South Montgomery County YMCA recognizes an outstanding volunteer for his generosity of spirit, hard work and compassion for others. We are pleased to announce that Chris Osborne has been named this year’s YMCA Volunteer of the Year.

At the YMCA, volunteers help provide the opportunities needed for communities to succeed.

Osborne was presented with his award at the recent YMCA of Greater Houston’s Annual Celebration at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston. He joined 32 others, each representing an individual YMCA center.

Chris has been an active member and volunteer at the South Montgomery County YMCA for 17 years. His service includes Board Member, Partners Campaigner and Community Partner. His company, The Egg & I has sponsored many YMCA special events including providing complimentary pancake breakfast to more than 5000 participants at the annual Thanksgiving Day GE Run Thru the Woods “Directed by the YMCA”. “I have a special place in my heart for the YMCA,” states Osborne. “I believe its steadfast commitment to developing youth, promoting healthy living and social responsibility is crucial to a strong community. Without a doubt those three aspects of our nation’s fabric are more challenged that ever and without the focus and commitment of organizations like the YMCA and their respective constituencies who give their time, efforts and resources the future would be disparaging at best.”

“From coaching, mentoring and motivating others, each selfless act by our volunteers impact each Y community in a positive way,” said YMCA President and CEO Clark Baker. “The use of their time and talents to impact the lives of individuals and families for the better makes the YMCA a better place for everyone. Without their help, we would not be able to offer the quality programs and services we provide today.”

Throughout the year, the YMCA relies on volunteers to assist in different capacities. Volunteers come from different walks of life, but all have one trait in common—a desire to help others. Together, volunteers empower people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. For more information about volunteer opportunities at the YMCA, visit the link below.
