THE WOODLANDS, Texas--In Montgomery County, there are always plenty of deserving pets that are in need of a forever, loving home. Briony Scott, a resident of The Woodlands, is doing her part to help animals get adopted with her new business, The Bryi’s Meows and More Rescue. Focusing on cats and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, Scott and her team are determined to decrease the amount of homeless animals in The Woodlands area.

Scott started the cat rescue just four months ago, but her passion for animals runs much deeper. A true animal lover, she is also the owner of The Bryi’s Pet Sitting, a local and successful business that Scott started when she moved to the area in 2004. For the fifth consecutive year, it also took first place in the Best of The Woodlands for the pet sitting category. Working with animals for nearly 10 years, the business owner saw a need for an animal rescue concentrated on cats.

“Nobody here is focused on just cats,” said Scott. “They deserve attention, too.”

The Meows and More Rescue already has some animals ready to be adopted, including Hotch, a loving cat who has a lot of personality. Hotch is very friendly, loves attention, and is thought to be around 15 months old. There is also a rabbit named Parcel who is ready to find his forever home. Parcel was found by a UPS driver on the side of the road and was brought to Friends of Texas Wildlife. Since the organization focuses on wildlife and not domesticated animals, they contacted Scott and she immediately took Parcel in. The rabbit fits in very well at the rescue, and can often be seen playing and snuggling with the cats.

“He is a little package,” Scott laughed. “He is a really friendly bunny and he likes to be held. If you are cleaning his cage, he likes to jump in your lap. He is just so cute and he gets along with everybody.”

To spread the word about The Bryi’s Meows and More Rescue, Scott and her team will be present at a few events coming up in The Woodlands. This Saturday, March 22, the rescue will have a booth at the Barbara Bush Elementary carnival. From 1:00-7:30 pm, families can come and see a few animals that are up for adoption, including Parcel the bunny. Adoption applications will also be available.

“It will be a good time for people to actually see the pets available,” said Scott. “Pictures can only do so much.”

On March 30, Scott’s original business, Bryi’s Pet Sitting, will host Brighton’s Birthday Bash. A dog adopted by Scott, Brighton is also the mascot of the pet sitting business. The celebration will be at Cattail Park from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. There will be lots of activities for families, as well as adoptable pets at the event. Donations will also be collected and given to both The Bryi’s Meows and More Rescue, and A SMART Rescue.

Anyone interested in adopting can also visit The Meows and More Facebook page where there are pictures and YouTube videos of the adoptable pets. Scott likes to make sure each animal goes to the right home. People interested can fill out an application, which will then be reviewed. If there are not any red flags, the process can move forward with a house check.

Scott’s love for animals is apparent, but she has a special spot in her heart for cats. She is making it her priority to make sure fewer cats and other small animals are homeless, and more are able to live a happy and healthy life.
