THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The water awareness and public education coordinator for The Woodlands Joint Powers Authority has been named Outstanding Master Gardener of The Year, by the Texas Master Gardener Association, according to James M. Stinson, P.E., general manager of WJPA.

Bob Dailey, a resident of The Woodlands, and a Montgomery County master gardener for eight years, received the designation at the annual convention of the Texas Master Gardener Association in April. Dailey was chosen from entries around the state in the category that also included Bexar, Dallas, Tarrant, Harris and Galveston counties.
“Bob is an outstanding communicator, dedicated, organized and a team player,” said Stinson. “His articles and presentations about water conservation, lawn care, gardening and soil health have gone a long way toward educating the residents of not only The Woodlands, but also Montgomery County about how important water conservation is,” the general manager added.

Dailey writes regular articles in several publications in the area, and gives dozens of presentations on various topics that relate to water and soil conservation, best practices on lawn and garden care and native and adapted plants, Stinson noted.

“He’s also assisted WJPA and the MUDs in developing a sound water conservation program in The Woodlands,” Stinson said, “one that has been held up as an example to the rest of Texas.”

WJPA just received the prestigious Blue Legacy award from the Texas Water Conservation Advisory Council, “demonstrating outstanding and innovative commitment to the state's mission of promoting responsible management of water resources as well as conservation of Texas' water resources.”

“The Blue Legacy Award, and Bob’s being named Master Gardener of the Year are honors to the WJPA, to the MUDs it serves and to the community as a whole.

“WJPA is happy to have Bob aboard. His energy, enthusiasm and abilities continue to help us reach our goal of water conservation in The Woodlands,” said Stinson.
