THE WOODLANDS, Texas - On May 15th The Woodlands High School Improv Troupe wrapped up another successful year of being a comedic force of nature for charities. Twelve students make up a troupe that performs family friendly improv shows monthly in the style of “Who’s Line is it Anyway?”. Each show raises money for a different charity, and this year alone the troupe raised over $20,000 for organizations such as Doctors without Borders, The Will Herndon Fund, Montgomery County Animal Shelter, Brooklyn Brumfield, and many more. The Improv Troupe has also performed at the Montgomery County Book Fair, Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, and other events. Dennis Muehsler, an Assistant Principal at TWHS, says “[The Improv Troupe] is a great way to promote our theatre and to support the community - it gives students an opportunity to display their talents and showcase the school’s philanthropic ideals. Any need, any cause, the Improv Troupe is there to help.”

TWHS Improv Troupe gave the gift of laughter this school year while raising money for deserving charities and organizations.

Last year, when the troupe first began, shows were performed in a black box theatre to audiences of about 60 people. Now, the shows are performed on the main stage and garner audiences in the hundreds. Senior Katerina Zukis, a member of the troupe for two years, states that “the Improv Troupe represents so much more than just a group of students performing on stage. It’s a way to spread awareness about charities, as well as a literal representation of the idea of ‘comedy for a cure’.”

The Improv Troupe is always looking for new charities and events to help out. If you have an idea for a charity (local or national), or an event that you would like us to perform at please email mtpeters@conroeisd.net with your ideas. Make sure to look at the website below for future dates and charities. Thanks to all of the audience members who came to our shows and helped support the TWHS Improv Troupe!
