Arrogance and Hypocrisy: A letter to the editor

With regards to the current episode involving The Texas Patriots PAC participation in the process by which the Montgomery County Commissioners Court placed a road bond referendum on the upcoming November elections, please consider the following.

Arrogance – In a video recently posted by the Texas Patriots PAC President Julie Turner, Ms. Turner purports to claim the Texas Patriots PAC was acting on behalf of the conservatives of Montgomery County to put together a good road project package. Really. There are tens of thousands of conservatives in Montgomery County including me. Does Ms. Turner have a loyal following of several thousand presumably well intentioned people? Yes. Does she or the Texas Patriots PAC represent the rest of us? No. Such a claim is text book arrogance to the extreme.

Hypocrisy – Let’s just suppose that the Chairman of The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, an executive from the Woodlands Development Company and say a mayor from a Montgomery County city worked together with a political consultant and a political action committee behind the scenes to develop a road bond package with selected members of Commissioners Court. Not in public - emails, text messages, phone calls etc. behind the scenes. Let’s say this group asked Commissioners Court to put this package on the ballot without posting the specific project lists by precinct prior to such posting. Or signed a memorandum of understanding without full Commissioners Court participation.

Based on past history, the Texas Patriots PAC would be all over the news screaming foul play, politics as usual, evil establishment, we have to flush them all out, filing every law suit possible in every jurisdiction imaginable, etc, etc. Well, it is just these tactics and more that the Texas Patriots PAC employed in this transaction that now threatens further delay in much needed infrastructure projects and will cause serious harm to who knows how many people – including themselves.

Arrogance combined with Hypocrisy – Always “comes home to roost”
