THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Most folks enjoy leaving their Christmas tree up beyond Christmas, but come New Year's Day, they're ready to take it down.

The Woodlands Township will take your tree away, but there are a few rules.

Green trees will be picked up weekly by the yard trimmings truck as part of your regularly scheduled curbside services.

  • Remove all decorations, lights and tree stand
  • Place at curb on your regular service day

Flocked trees, which have been sprayed with artificial snow or coatings, require special pickup and will be landfilled.

  • Schedule a pickup by calling 800-800-5804 at least two business days before your regular service day
