THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Interfaith Child Development Center (ICDC) recently announced the launch of their new “Transition to Kindergarten” Program.

This new program is designed for children that miss the September 1st cutoff date to enter Kindergarten, or for children of Kindergarten age who would benefit from an additional year before starting Kindergarten. The program will follow CISD’s calendar starting in August and running through May, and will meet Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm.

“We are very excited to start this new program at ICDC for the 2018-2019 school year. Our goal at Interfaith Child Development Center is to provide children with an additional year of learning and growth before transitioning to a new school in a much larger environment,” shared Martha Klie, Director of School at Interfaith Child Development Center.

This new class will review the basic skills of pre-Kindergarten with a focus on reading, math skills enhancements and independent writing. Midyear, the curriculum shifts to focus on Kindergarten skills. The Transition to Kindergarten teacher is TSR certified, trained in all curriculum enhancements and receives professional development from Sam Houston State University.

“All of Interfaith’s programs are built out of community need. This expansion of Interfaith Child Development Center’s program meets that need experienced by families while enriching the lives of the children in our wonderful community,” shared Missy Herndon President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands.

Interfaith Child Development Center is located at 5630 Rush Haven Drive in The Woodlands. Devoted entirely to the development of children, the building has three wings with large, well-equipped classrooms and a multi-purpose room. Special enrichment features of the school include five separate age-appropriate playgrounds, a wonderful children’s library, and a hands-on science lab. Extra-curricular activities such as music, creative movement and Spanish are also offered.
