THE WOODLANDS, Texas – It's National Small Business Week. With that in mind, we bring you a couple of related items to check out in this week's edition of our Top 5. The rest is all about relaxing and having fun with friends and family.

Opening a business? Thinking of going out on your own? Get some advice from the pros. Lone Star College is holding its first ever Small Business Expo 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday May 1 at the Lone Star College System Office, 5000 Research Forest. The event is free and open to the public.

If running a business isn't your thing and you prefer to be a worker bee, check out The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Community Job Fair 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday May 2 at Sam Houston State University Woodlands Center, 3380 College Park Drive. Bring your business card or resume and get ready to mingle with several potential employers. There is no charge to attend. Need a professional pic for your portfolio? Relax after a busy day at Creekside Park Unplugged, an evening of live music 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday May 2 at Creekside Park Village Green, 26400 Kuykendahl. The Green is basically a mini version of Market Street, with several restaurants to grab a bite or snack at first. Or just bring a picnic basket and blanket and enjoy the free, family-friendly event on a beautiful spring night.

Grab your sunscreen and floaties – swimming season is almost here, with pools in The Woodlands opening soon on weekends. Whether you visit public pools or have a home pool, water safety should be on your mind. The Montgomery County Hospital District, along with the YMCA, The Woodlands Township, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and Safe Kids Greater Houston, is hosting May Day 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Friday May 4 at Shadowbend YMCA, 6145 Shadowbend Place. The event includes general water safety, CPR, how to properly fit a life jacket and more.

Get your zen on and a workout in all at once with Stand-Up Paddle Board Yoga, 10 a.m. Saturday May 5 at Riva Row Boat House, 2101 Riva Row. You'll begin with basic paddle board instruction before floating out for a "vinyasa flow." This is for folks 14 and older. Fee is $40 per person.
