Bats, Bugs and Big Fun: Visit The Woodlands Children’s Museum After Dark!

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Children’s Museum is inviting families to visit after dark for an immersive evening filled with bats, bugs, and big fun! Experience the fascinating world of nocturnal animals during Fangtastic Fun Friday, taking place Friday, October 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This special evening event will transform the museum into a nighttime adventure filled with activities inspired by the animals that come alive after dark. Children and families can explore the mysterious world of bats, owls, bugs and other nocturnal creatures through a variety of educational and creative activities.

“We are excited to open the museum after dark and invite families to join us for this unique event,” stated Jennifer Kraus, the museum’s Interim Executive Director. “Fangtastic Fun Friday is a way for children to learn more about their surroundings and discover that the world doesn’t go to sleep after the sun goes down.”

Activities will include a Bat Cave, where children can use flashlights to search for nighttime creatures, learn about the difference between nocturnal and diurnal animals, and discover how bats use echolocation. Guests can also test their “wingspan” against different owl wing sizes, search the museum during a Camouflage Scavenger Hunt, and look at animal x-rays against a light table. Enjoy critter visits with screech owls Jack and Lucy, and Walter the Opossum.

Young explorers can also gather for Twilight Tales story time, sharing nighttime adventures together. Take-home art projects are also included with admission and include a torn paper owl collage and not-so-spooky bat hat.

Families are encouraged to come ready to explore, discover and have a fangtastic time!
