Woodforest continues to tap into the local craft beer scene, bringing brew masters and brew lovers together for Craft Fest, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.

More than 20 breweries, proffering samples of lagers, ales, and stouts to adults 21+, will set up their kegs at the community’s Christine Allen Nature Park, 5831 Woodforest Parkway South.

Full glasses of beer and margaritas from Southern Rum Runners will be available for purchase. An expanded beer garden will allow attendees to sit back with a cold one while enjoying live music by Louis Adams Band, Travis Lance and Sick Duck.

“Craft Fest has gotten bigger and better every year,” said Virgil Yoakum, vice president and general manager for Woodforest. “We really have something for everyone. This year we’ve got more beers, great music, activities for the kids and even an opportunity to go on a beer run!”

Among the participating breweries will be Texas’ oldest brewing company, Saint Arnold, as well as local favorites Spindletap Brewery, Karbach Brewery, 8th Wonder Brewery and No Label Brewing Co. “New-ish” comers Under the Radar and City Acre breweries also will be on hand.

Kicking off the event is a community beer run — not one to the local store, but rather a 5K run through Woodforest. The 5Kish Beer Run starts at 11 a.m. and finishes with a craft beer reward. The $35 race entry fee includes a t-shirt, medal, 16 oz. finisher pint and beer.

Topping off the free event will be DJ Chico, a rock wall, pony rides, inflatables, game truck, maze, face painters, food trucks, lawn games and more. Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed.

Woodforest’s 26 fully decorated model homes will be open for touring during the month-long September Showcase. Homes in the community are priced from the $180,000s.
