THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The 2018 Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health Luncheon was a record-breaking event, not only in terms of fundraising but also attendance.

"It was a sold out event with almost 1,300 philanthropic guests in attendance," said event co-chair Cheryl Brady. "This is an amazing feat and one that could not have been accomplished without the herculean efforts of everyone on the In the Pink committee and our supporters. We attribute this to the personal and moving story delivered by our local speakers, Amy and Tom Hauser, and reinforced by the inspirational message from Scott Hamilton. Everyone in the audience was moved by their words and inspired to give to the cause."

The event raised more than $800,000, which will be allocated to various Montgomery County nonprofit organizations related to breast and ovarian cancer prevention, treatment and support.

"We are extremely grateful to both our existing donors, many of whom have continuously supported us over the last 18 years, and our new partners alike," said event co-chair Tiffany McClung. "It is because of our partners that we are able to provide mammograms and ultrasounds to women who are underinsured or uninsured, purchase state-of-the-art equipment to assist with diagnosis, provide outreach and education for breast and ovarian health, and funding for Canopy. Canopy, the crown-jewel of our fundraising efforts, is a Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center that provides services to patients, survivors and caregivers regardless of what type of cancer they are battling or where they are being treated. All services are provided at no charge."

Brady said it's important for the community to know that all funds raised serve residents here locally.

"Since our inception over 18 years ago, we have raised almost $6 million to support those battling breast and ovarian cancer," Brady said.

For those not able to attend the luncheon, donations can still be made online at www.inthepinkofhealth.org.
