THE WOODLANDS, Texas— After a big win in a rivalry matchup with The Woodlands last Friday night, the College Park Cavaliers played host to the District 15-6A leaders Klein Forest.

College Park jumped to an early lead over the Eagles, jumped started by senior guards Cam Noel and Tyren Montgomery. With six points in the first quarter, Montgomery set the tone for how the Cavs wanted to play after an 18-point loss to Klein Collins earlier in the week. The guard pair each scored 14 in Friday’s contest.

The Eagles found their footing in the second quarter, feeding 6’7’’ Calvin Solomon in the post. The big man returns for his senior season along with Kharee McDaniel. Both played a significant role in last year’s Klein Forest team that reached the Quarterfinals of the State Playoffs. A surge in the second quarter would give the Eagles the 30-28 lead going into halftime.

The third quarter saw the same result as the second, the Eagles maintained their two-point lead with Solomon efficiently getting to the free throw line.

With the Cavaliers clawing away at Klein Forest’s largest lead of the game late in the fourth, Mark Henderson and Drew Calderon caught fire—draining six three-pointers in a row to tie the game at the end of regulation. Calderon led all Cavalier scorers Friday night with 19. College Park cooled down in overtime after their clutch fourth quarter, giving way for the Eagles to seal the game.

Klein Forest escapes their first district loss with an 84-77 overtime win. The Cavaliers move to 3-7 in district play while the Eagles remain a perfect 10-0. Our Live Boradcast was presented by Hal Watson Air Conditioning Company with replays presented by Texas Tiny Home Solutions.
