CONROE, TX - Three Montgomery County nonprofits will receive much-needed assistance from college students recruited from across the nation for a special program benefiting the community during the busy summer months.

The Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Inc. (DRC-MC), Education for Tomorrow Alliance, and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion are among 30 Greater Houston-area nonprofit organizations selected to participate in the 2019 ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP), which provides paid internships at nonprofits having a positive local impact.

CSJP Intern Reagan Heilman, a Katy Independent School District graduate and senior communications major at Texas A&M University, is spending eight weeks at DRC-MC, where she will assist with grant applications, news releases and marketing communications materials.

“I am so excited to spend my summer working for an agency whose mission is to help people in difficult situations through the use of mediation,” Heilman said. “I am very thankful the Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County and the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program gave me the opportunity to discover new passions, gain experience in the workplace and achieve my career goals."

The ExxonMobil Foundation funds the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program, which covers professional development and a summer stipend for the paid internships.

“I am constantly amazed at the quality and dedication of students who participate in the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program,” DRC-MC Executive Director Elaine Roberts said. “Reagan Heilman is bilingual – minoring in Spanish at Texas A&M – and her assistance will help us ensure that our programs, materials and website information are also available in Spanish.”

Many former ExxonMobil Community Summer Job Program interns pursue full-time careers in the non-profit sector.

“The ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program provides huge benefits to local nonprofits by providing funding to hire extremely talented summer interns and offer additional services to the community that we would not otherwise have the funding to provide,” DRC-MC Board Chair Lois Voth said.

Montgomery County also welcomes CSJP interns Dana Hammarstrom – a graduate of The John Cooper School in The Woodlands and current international relations major at Boston University – who will work on community outreach and events for Education for Tomorrow Alliance, and Lauren van Otterdyk – a Conroe ISD graduate and marketing-advertising major at The University of Oklahoma – who will oversee a performing arts children’s program at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
