THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Annual Into the Woods Halloween Party will be held on Saturday, October 19th at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. Start planning your costume now so you can take home the Best Costume trophy! And be prepared to have your palm read, playing games, eating great food and dancing the night away to the sounds of BACKBEAT band – it will be a howling great time!

Every year The Woodlands Charities selects one charity from Montgomery County to focus on and bring attention to. This year’s charity is the Assistance League of Montgomery County. Proceeds from both Chef Showdown (that took place in May) as well as proceeds from Into the Woods will go to the Assistance League’s Operation School Bell®. Lisa Waddell, Operation School Bell® Chair, had this to say about what this program does, “Not only does it clothe the economically disadvantaged children of Montgomery County, it gives them pride and self-esteem. School counselors have reported positive changes in students – from frowns to smiles and lower discipline problems.”

Operation School Bell® is the signature program of National Assistance League, as well as every chapter of Assistance League across the nation. The chapter started this program in 1988 when 33 children were provided with new clothing for school. Today all six Montgomery County school districts are served and over 4,000 children receive new clothing each year.

For every $100 donated to The Woodlands Charities, Inc. this year, we will be able to clothe one more student (from elementary through high school). Operation School Bell® partners with Walmart, JCPenney, Burlington and Kohl’s to allow students to shop tax free for new clothes, shoes, underwear and jackets. “They are thrilled that they can personally choose their clothing and cannot wait to wear them proudly to school!” said Carolyn Jones, President of Assistance League of Montgomery County.
