THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Update on Research Forest repair: Unfortunately Tropical Storm Imelda has affected the contractor’s repair timeline. We regret the immense inconvenience this has caused and are working diligently with our contractors to get the line up and running and the road repaired as safely and as quickly as possible.

The eastbound lanes of Research Forest Drive remain closed to repair damage to a 30-inch water line. The westbound lanes are open.

The leak is isolated to a 20-foot section of underground pipe. The damaged pipe section has been removed and the line temporarily capped.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible. SJRA has traffic officers present. Alternative routes include Woodlands Parkway, Lake Woodlands Drive, Texas 242, and FM 1488.

SJRA continues to work closely with Montgomery County Precinct 3 (Precinct 3) and the Montgomery County Constable’s Office. The Woodlands is not anticipated to have any interruption of water service during the process. Businesses are not expected to be significantly impacted as this section of Research Forest Drive has no direct entry sites or driveways that are obstructed.
