THE WOODLANDS, TX -- With a spot in the 6A-D1 Region II final on the line, The Woodlands Highlanders will travel to Baylor’s McLane Stadium to face the Prosper Eagles on November 30 at 7 p.m. The Highlanders enter Saturday’s game with an overall record of 8-4, with losses to Cy-Fair, Klein Oak(D), Klein Cain(D), and Klein Collins(D). The Eagles come into Saturday’s game with an overall record of 10-2, with losses to Dallas Jesuit(D) and Allen(D).

Through two games in the playoffs, The Woodlands has a 17-0 win over Spring and a wild 34-28 win in 3OT over Cypress Woods. Prosper beat Wylie 24-0, then picked up a 45-18 win over Mesquite.

Second Quarter Surge

The number in the second frame of the box score could be an important factor in this regional semifinal. The Highlanders and Eagles have been polar opposites in the second quarter of games this season. Generally, The Woodlands does the least of their scoring in the second quarter, while Prosper has done the bulk of their scoring in quarter two multiple times this year.

Key Matchups

The Woodlands Secondary vs Prosper Wide Receivers - In the win over Mesquite, the Eagles had six different receivers with catches and three with touchdowns. The group has four receivers over 300 yards this season and is led by senior Hayden Metcalf.

The Woodlands O-line vs Prosper D-line - The Highlanders have been banged up all year long, but have continued to find production all through the depth chart. With Cody Howard taking over for an injured Ben Mills at quarterback, along with The Woodlands’ running back by committee, the offensive line will need to lead the way by providing great protection to allow the skill players to find their rhythm.

Prediction:

Prosper is a two-point favorite according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football projections. Woodlands Online predicts a 27-21 win for The Woodlands.
