CONROE, TX - The Friends of Conroe, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and producer of the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival, is excited to announce the intent to continue plans to hold the 31st Annual event scheduled for October 9, 10 & 11, 2020.

In light of the Covid 19 pandemic, the festival planning committee has worked closely with state, county and city officials to address sanitation requirements within the festival. In addition to adhering to state mandated regulations, festivalgoers will find additional sanitation stations and more aggressive measures to increase the safety of all who attend this year’s festivities. Additional measures include thorough periodic sanitation of social areas and carnival rides, social distancing measures in food court and vendor areas, stricter vendor guidelines and more. Masks and social distancing will be encouraged per the guidelines set forth by the CDC and local entities. We strive to ensure every festivalgoer feels safe and secure and that every effort is made to protect the health of our guests.

As a result of the financial and economic impacts of the worldwide disaster, the Friends of Conroe is adjusting this year’s event schedule and structure in order to be more inclusive to all visitors, businesses, vendors and participants. As a nonprofit organization, fiscal responsibility is vital to meeting the annual giving goals set forth by the board of directors. As such, costs have been reduced across the board to maximize the potential dollars for community giving. Sunday will be a Free Family Fun day in which all ages will enjoy free entry into the festival grounds, including the Tejano music festivities which will begin at 6PM. Additionally, entrance into the carnival area will be at no charge the entire weekend of the festival, allowing families to attend and enjoy the rides at a reduced cost.

This year’s exciting entertainment lineup includes local favorite Cannon Brand on the Demontrond Stage on Friday, followed by ESCAPE (a Journey tribute band) and the ever-popular Bag of Donuts will be sure to get people dancing in the streets. Over on the Ogden Powersports Cajun stage, you will find Bayou Roux and Wayne Toups & ZeDeCajun, two of the most recognizable names in Zydeco music. The fun and music continue Saturday with Geno Delafose and Jamie Bergeron with their Cajun soul, as well as Tyler McCollum, Roger Creager, Wade Bowen and headliner Aaron Watson over on the Texas Stage.

The Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival is a three-day music, food and entertainment extravaganza held street-party style in historic downtown Conroe. All proceeds from the festival benefit The Friends of Conroe, a nonprofit community-oriented organization committed to the enhancement of the quality of life in Conroe and Montgomery County through civic and cultural improvements. Last year alone, The Friends of Conroe donated more than $100,000 to local charities and fundraisers, including community outreach events like the Thanksgiving Feast with Friends for area families in need. They also provide scholarship opportunities available to graduating seniors of any school or homeschool within Montgomery County. The annual event makes a great, positive financial impact on downtown Conroe businesses as well as festival exhibitors and vendors. The Festival employs local service providers whenever possible, generating income for countless entrepreneurs and their families.
