THE WOODLANDS, TX -- “I want to see lives changed. I want to see people walk in their true identity. I want to see people realize that the two most important days of their life are, the day they're born, and the day they learn why,” said Doctor Peter Johnson, a Board-Certified, Adult Behavioral Medicine Specialist at LifeSpring Behavioral Health in The Woodlands.

'We were created to be interdependent. There is no shame in asking for help.”

LifeSpring Behavioral Health provides exceptional, individualized behavioral healthcare from a Biblical perspective with honesty and integrity. They believe that a genuine life transformation requires an integrated approach, which addresses the individual as a whole. They incorporate the mind, body, and spirit into the healing journey, evaluating factors such as genetics, personality, relationships, and lifestyle, to enable a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to meet each person’s specific needs.

It comes as no surprise that stress levels have increased tremendously during this pandemic. The uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 seem endless: making the decision between online learning and face-to-face instruction for children, job loss, financial insecurity, the fear of loved ones getting sick, and the inability to visit friends and family. Alongside these stressors is the rising tension surrounding the upcoming presidential election. The heaviness of these undoubtedly tough times can contribute to relationship troubles, addictions and dependencies, difficult emotions, and the resurfacing of past traumas.

“So many people that come to us have wounds from the past that were never really healed,” said Dr. Johnson. “They just sort of got buried as they went along through life and then big stressors bring their vulnerabilities from those past traumas back to haunt them,” he continued. “I want people to know that they're not alone, and that none of our lives are perfect … We were created to be interdependent. There is no shame in asking for help.”

The goal at LifeSpring Behavioral Health is to change lives, restore relationships, and break addictions all under one roof. Their clinicians help people develop new coping strategies, improve their overall mood, heal from past trauma, gain freedom from self medication, and improve personal relationships. They also walk with people through suicidal thoughts to determine the appropriate level of care needed.

Individual counseling is available for all ages, as well as therapy for couples and families. For patients 17 and up, medication management is offered when appropriate. The clinicians actually perform genetic testing, which enables them to determine which medicines will be more effective and better tolerated. They’ve also added neurotransmitter metabolism testing for improved individualized prescribing.

Addiction counseling and recovery groups are also available, including specialized comprehensive treatment plans.

Telehealth is offered for those who seek it, though the initial session would ideally be conducted in person. Ultimately, it’s the clinician’s call to decide whether or not he or she feels that a telehealth appointment is appropriate.

“The only true joy we ever really experienced is serving others,” said Dr. Johnson. “Helping someone gain freedom from the bondage of their past so that they are released to sort of walk into their destiny … that's what brings me joy.”
